I don’t throw around the word “Wunderkind” often, but I just had to use it in this short post. While only time will tell whether my nephew, Jake Shelton, will make it to the “bigs” one day, the present date finds this blogger and Uncle very happy and excited for young  Jake. For Jake is representing the state of Idaho with a chance to go to the Little League World Series.

The other day, I sat with my brother Russell (Jake’s father) San Bernardino in 102° temperature to watch Jake’s team beat the state of Wyoming. It was a one-nothing thriller with a run being scored in the home half of an extra inning.

Now I know some of you may think that the reason that I want to see Jake win is simple family pride. And it is!

So as I write this, Jake and his team are on ESPN2 vying for the opportunity to take one more step towards the Little League World Series. So, if you catch this in time, tune in and root for my nephew Jake to close the deal!
